Activation of beach by VE3RRD on 18 October, 2017

Wednesday, 18 October, 2017

Wasaga Beach in Ontario Canada is the world's longest fresh water beach (14 km long). It is located in grid EN94XM on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). I should be set up by 1400 UTC and will operate as VE3RRD for several hours (100W SSB). Several other members of the Barrie ham club are also joining in, so you may hear other call signs coming from Wasaga Beach tomorrow.

Had a lot of fun, worked 65 stations on 20m and 40m. Used VE3RRD call for all contacts but had 3 different operators at the mic, Al VE3RRD, Mike VE3MKX and Ian VA3QT. Propagation was good and weather was excellent.

I have uploaded all logged contacts to eQSL and have created a new eQSL card for this activation. 73, AL VE3RRD

good morning AL
The beginning became ....
Seeing the will to communicate with the beaches in the air and the activist and the hunter can participate in the program's prizes and prizes, his manager BOTA (Beaches on the air )should also put other countries in the program beaches in the air.
And the Canadian country, as well as many amateur radio colleagues from other countries with seaside beaches would like to be involved in this activity to be able to communicate across the sea.
In Canada, the colleague activated near the beach, but it is not in its program B.O.T.A This site is also a WWFF (World Wide Flora Fauna) activation, VEFF-0426 for those who also hunt for these awards.
I soon hope that other countries join the program.

Guess I can give Wasaga Beach the number VE/ON/001 since as far as I can determine, it was the first Ontario beach to be activated for BOTA.
