KK6MT

I started with Amateur Radio as a teenager and worked up to Advanced class when CW was required. I have been inactive for years. My little brother Huston KK6WT took up Ham Radio recently and we have been having fun activating parks and summits. My thought was why not try out Beaches On The Air since I am up hanging out at our family beach house this weekend for New Years 2024. I like the QRP low power stuff. QCX Mini 20M; Venus SW-3B; Xeigu G90; and recently Lab599 Discovery TX500. The TX500, build quality is amazing and one of he few rigs weatherized. Antennas Wolf River 17' whip with the big coil and the sporty 40 coil and some home built EFHW and home made 49:1 matching torroids and random wire setups with a 9:1 into an autotuner or a ZM-2 manual tuner. For Modes, I like CW the best because it is more challenging and gets out on low power a lot better than SSB. Not really into rag chewing, just like getting the summits, parks and now maybe beaches checked off the list. Heading to BVI end of February and hope to activate some locations there. 73s everyone and catch up on the air, time and girlfriend permitting.
